What Aloud Is
Aloud is a live transcription aid. It writes out what it hears so you can follow a conversation more easily. It is not a medical device, not a hearing aid in the regulatory sense, and not a certified or verbatim transcription service.
Accuracy
Speech recognition gets things wrong. Accents, crosstalk, background noise, distance and unusual names all cost accuracy, and a mistaken word can invert the meaning of a sentence. Do not rely on an Aloud transcript as a record of what was said in any setting where being wrong matters — medical, legal, financial, employment or safety-critical. Check anything important with the person who said it.
Recording Other People
Laws on capturing or transcribing other people's speech vary by country and by state, and some require the consent of everyone present. You are solely responsible for using Aloud lawfully in your jurisdiction, and for telling people when what they say is being written down. Lakvanta Technologies is not responsible for how you use the app.
Listening Modes
Nearby transcribes entirely on your device and works offline. Range and Studio may send audio to Apple's speech recognition service, need an internet connection, and can be unavailable or interrupted if that connection drops. Which mode does what is described in the app and in the Privacy Policy.
Your Content
Transcripts belong to you. They are stored on your device and we have no access to them. Because there is no account and no backup, uninstalling the app, or losing or resetting the device, deletes them permanently. Export anything you need to keep.
Subscriptions
Nearby is free and unlimited. Range and Studio are offered with a short free preview and a free trial, after which they require a subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your Apple Account, renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and are managed and cancelled in your Apple Account settings — not by us. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
Refunds
Purchases are made through the App Store, so refunds are handled by Apple under their terms. We cannot issue refunds directly, but tell us if something went wrong and we will help where we can.
Lawful Use Only
Use Aloud only for legal purposes. Do not use it to record people covertly where that is unlawful, to harass or surveil anyone, or in any way that breaches another person's rights.
Prohibited Activities
Any misuse, infringement of others' rights, reverse engineering, or attempts to disrupt the app or its services are not allowed.
Intellectual Property
Aloud, its design and branding are owned by Lakvanta Technologies. What is transcribed during your sessions remains yours.
Service Availability
Features can change, be added, or be paused for maintenance, compliance, or improvement without prior notice. Range and Studio depend on a third-party service and an internet connection and may be unavailable at times; Nearby continues to work offline.
Liability
The app is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, Lakvanta Technologies is not liable for data loss or damages arising from use of the app, including any consequence of an inaccurate or missing transcription. Your sessions live only on your device, so uninstalling the app removes them permanently.
